Tuesday was a beautiful day in Albion!
I started the day visiting Team 1, who is working on fixing up a city baseball field. They had repainted most of the bright yellow parts of the park and were working on replacing the wood for the backstop and the wood for the bleachers. Very cool project to help the community!
Team 10 is working on a residential home. It’s a two story duplex home. They are building a new staircase to get to the second floor door. That door is the only way in and out of the second story living space. They have to dig 42 in. deep post holes for each post, which is what they were doing when I was there. They are also replacing some rotted out pieces of wood on the back of the home.
Team 2 is working on a residential home as well. They tore out the sidewalk to the back door and are building a small porch and stairwell for the back door. Their homeowner keeps bringing them cookies and cases of bottled water. Very sweet! I love it!
Team 4 is working at Albion’s K-8th grade school. They are helping to fix up their athletic area for the community. They were repainting the bight caution yellow on the curbs, and repainting several sheds and the snacks stand. It was great to think about all of the different people who would be able to enjoy this in the years to come.
Team 6 is also working on a residential home, right across from Team 2. They tore our and are building a front stair case to get in and out of the front door, which will also have a little roof over the staircase. Team 6 had also gone down the street to another home to help sure up a home owners front porch so they could safely use it in a wheelchair.
We returned home and got ready for dinner. Our theme for the day was “No Impact” and we talked about why it is important to make an impact. We looked at the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. Our juniors did an awesome job of leading worship and giving testimonies. We then had small groups and headed off to bed.
