June 14 — Flag Day — and June 15 — Superhero day. Team Awesome (our humble name for the adult leadership) celebrated appropriately. Another in an incredible string of gorgeous days. Thank you for your prayers from home.
Visited with Teams 1, 2, 4, and 6. We saw some amazing progress from some amazing kids and their mentors. Team 6 is led by adults Terry Thornton, Kedra Smith (one of the FOUR members of the family on the mission trip), Tom Smith (not actually one of the aforementioned Smiths), and young adult Lara Hrynko. The diligent students on the team are Callie, Angelo, Jennifer, Zach, Emma, Jeanine, Jeff, and Ian. I’ll let the pictures tell the story today.
We were led in worship by our enthusiastic — to say the least — freshman class. We also asked our homeowners to join us for dinner so that we could thank them for so graciously opening their homes and hearts to us.
I will not get a chance to post the completion of Friday’s festivities on the blog, but check back next week for the thrilling conclusion — including our emotional send-off to our beloved senior class.
The theme of the week has been HOPE and it has truly been borne out in the work, the fellowship, the worship, and the attitude of our fantastic group of young people and the tireless adults who have shepherded their activities. Knox is truly blessed. Thank you for supporting this mission!
