Discussion on Teen Suicide November 15

November 8, 2017

To Parents of Knox High School Students,

Thank you for entrusting your daughters and sons to us on Wednesdays, Sundays, and for special events. Because the Youth and Young Adult Council and I take very seriously your trust and the safety of your children, I wanted to let you know that we have a special program planned for Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at our regular Wednesday dinner and program/fellowship from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

I am sure that you have seen the stories from around the U.S. on the tragedy of teen suicides. This is, unfortunately, particularly true here in Naperville, where very recently there have been three high school students who have cut short their lives, the last that of a Naperville North student a few short weeks ago. The students in the fellowship are keenly aware of this.

On November 15, Phil Vedova, a Licensed Professional Counselor, will be making a presentation and leading a discussion on teen suicide with students in the fellowship. Mr. Vedova is with SamaraCare Counseling, a local faith-based mental health services provider. Please click on this link for more information about the agency or Mr. Vedova. http://samaracarecounseling.org

The Council and I believe that it is important that you know about this presentation in advance so that you can discuss the issue with your children before or afterward, or if there is some reason that you might want to keep your child home that night.

Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss this matter or anything else about our wonderful Knox kids.

In Christ’s Love,

David Newby
