Our church offers a wonderful program for college freshman – a mentoring program designed to pair up a freshman with a caring adult from our congregation. For many this will be their first time away from home for an extended period of time. This program gives them a connection to their “home” church and gives them an opportunity to discuss situations or issues that arise, beyond their current circle of friends, or family.
Tonight at 7:30 in the basement, immediately following the Wednesday Youth Fellowship, there will be a meeting to discuss the program with juniors and seniors. We ask the seniors to think about someone they may be interested in working with. Many youth have already bonded with a Knox adult outside of their family -for example, at Go & Serve, or other church activities. We want this to be a warm, meaningful experience for both the mentor and the mentee. If they have someone in mind they can share the name at the meeting.
